What we collect
- Your spoken answers. When you practice, your voice is recorded to a file on your device. That recording is passed to Apple's Speech Recognition to be transcribed, which may process it on Apple's servers rather than on the device itself. The recording stays on your device and is never uploaded to InterviewBuddy's servers. The resulting transcript text is sent to InterviewBuddy's scoring service so your answer can be scored and feedback can be generated.
- Practice session data. Your scores, transcripts, saved sessions, and related coaching data are stored on your device using SwiftData. If iCloud / CloudKit is available on your device, that data may also sync privately through your Apple account.
- App preferences. We store onboarding status and app preferences using standard iOS app storage on your device.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email, or any account information.
- We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.
- We do not use your data for advertising.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not store your voice recordings on our servers.

Your transcript text is processed through InterviewBuddy's scoring service and may be handled by Anthropic as part of that scoring pipeline.
Data retention
Your practice sessions — scores, transcripts, and competency history — live on your device for as long as you keep the app installed. Audio recordings are kept only for your most recent sessions so the app doesn't grow without limit on your device; older recordings are deleted automatically, while the transcript and scores for those sessions are kept. If CloudKit sync is active on your device, synced copies may also exist in your private iCloud account. Deleting the app removes local data.
Your rights
You can delete local app data by deleting the app. If CloudKit sync is active, you can also manage synced app data through your Apple account settings. For privacy questions, use the InterviewBuddy support page.
Children
InterviewBuddy is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
